Why have a PVC floor professionally fitted?
Fitting a PVC floor may look simple, but professional installation makes the difference between a floor that lasts 15 to 25 years and one that causes problems after 5 years. We work with our own in-house floor fitters rather than subcontractors, and Houtlet has been fitting floors for more than 20 years.
Benefits of professional installation
- Perfect subfloor preparation - The subfloor is made flat in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements
- Precise patterns - Herringbone and chevron patterns require millimetre precision
- Right indoor climate conditions - Follow the manufacturer's instructions for your chosen floor regarding acclimatisation, storage and temperature.
- Warranty - The manufacturer's warranty applies when fitted according to specifications; we also provide a warranty on our fitting work
- Finished quickly - We usually fit a living room in a single day, provided the subfloor is already prepared
How we work: step by step
1. On-site assessment and advice
Telephone advice and video consultations are free of charge. An on-site assessment is free if you purchase the floor from us. If you decide not to go ahead with us, the visit costs €150. We measure the room accurately, assess the subfloor and advise on the best wood-effect PVC floor, concrete-effect or other styles for your situation. Following the assessment, we discuss a no-obligation price estimate.
2. Detailed quotation and scheduling
After measuring up, you receive a detailed quotation with specifications, scheduling and a clear price breakdown. Also view our full price list for transparency.
3. Preparing the subfloor
The subfloor is prepared: an old floor is removed if needed, residual moisture is measured, and the surface is levelled where necessary. The levelling compound must then dry before we can start fitting; how long this takes depends on the layer thickness. For bathrooms extra attention is given to waterproofing.
4. Acclimatisation
Allow the floor to acclimatise according to the manufacturer's instructions for your chosen product. The required time, storage method and temperature vary by floor and situation. Check this before fitting; there is no fixed timeframe that applies to all PVC floors.
5. Fitting
Our floor fitters begin by setting out the patterns with precision. Herringbone patterns are fitted from the centre of the room for perfect symmetry. Planks are cut to the exact size using professional tools. With underfloor heating, we use a suitable adhesive. A living room is usually fitted in one day; herringbone or a whole home takes 2 to 3 days.
6. Finishing and handover
All edges are finished with matching skirting boards or profiles. The floor is thoroughly cleaned and you are given care advice to keep. We carry out a final inspection together, and the job is only complete once everything is in order.
Costs of having a PVC floor fitted
The cost of having a PVC floor professionally fitted varies depending on several factors. You pay € 70 to € 95 per m², including the floor, skirting boards and fitting (and the underlay for click PVC flooring). View our detailed pricing page for a complete overview.
What may be listed separately on your quotation:
- Levelling (if required): €10 to €25 per m²
- Removing the old floor: €8 to €12 per m², including disposal
- Stairs: €75 to €125 per step
- Herringbone or chevron: more fitting work and cutting waste, see the pricing page
Additional costs may arise in complex rooms with many corners, when removing an old floor, or with an uneven subfloor. Everything is itemised on your quotation in advance, so there are no surprises afterwards.

PVC flooring suitable for underfloor heating
Do you have underfloor heating? Then we will choose a floor that the manufacturer certifies as suitable for it. The floor surface temperature may reach a maximum of 27°C . For a new screed, the heating-up protocol must be completed first, and we will measure the residual moisture. Read more on our page about PVC flooring with underfloor heating.

Everything you need to know about PVC floors and having them fitted
A PVC floor is a synthetic floor covering known for its durability, water resistance and ease of maintenance. PVC floors are available in countless designs, from wood-effect to stone-effect, and are ideal for both residential and commercial spaces.
From €70 to €95 per m², including flooring, skirting boards and fitting (plus the underlay for click PVC flooring). Herringbone costs more. Levelling (€10 to €25 per m²) or removing an old floor is listed separately on the quote.
Click PVC flooring is laid without adhesive using a click system and is easy to remove. Glue-down PVC flooring is fully bonded to the subfloor, resulting in a more stable floor that conducts heat from underfloor heating more effectively. Click PVC flooring can also be used with underfloor heating, provided a manufacturer-approved underlay is used.
Yes, if the manufacturer certifies the floor as suitable for underfloor heating. The floor surface temperature must not exceed 27°C, and on a new screed the heating-up protocol must be completed first. Glue-down PVC flooring conducts heat best.
Yes. The planks are water-resistant. In the bathroom, we recommend glue-down PVC flooring with sealed edges, outside the shower zone. Always wipe up standing water immediately.
PVC floors are low-maintenance. Regular vacuuming or sweeping and occasional mopping with a pH-neutral PVC cleaner is sufficient. Do not use soap, abrasive cleaners or a steam cleaner.
With proper maintenance, a quality PVC floor lasts 15 to 25 years. The lifespan depends on the wear layer thickness, usage and maintenance.
Sometimes. It can be laid over tiles once we have levelled out the grout lines. We remove old PVC, carpet and laminate first. During the measuring visit, we check what is currently down and what needs to be done with it.
Modern PVC floors from leading brands are phthalate-free and have low emissions. How sustainable a floor is varies by product; feel free to ask for the certificate for the floor you choose.
Once the quote is approved, we can usually start fitting your PVC floor within 2 to 4 weeks, depending on material availability and our schedule.
Ja. 15-year warranty on the installation work, plus the manufacturer's warranty on the material. The terms and conditions are included in your quote.
Of course! We are happy to show you our extensive collection and advise you on which PVC floor best suits your requirements, space and budget.
We can remove and dispose of your old floor. This is offered as an additional service and the costs are included in the quote.
Yes, PVC is hard-wearing and easy to clean. It is not scratch-proof. A thicker wear layer lasts longer, and scratches are less noticeable on a mid-tone floor with a textured finish. Keep claws trimmed.
Allow the floor to acclimatise according to the manufacturer's instructions for your chosen product. The required time, storage method and temperature vary by floor and situation. Check this before fitting; there is no fixed timeframe that applies to all PVC floors.
You can use click PVC flooring immediately after fitting. Glue-down PVC flooring can be walked on after a few hours, and furniture can be put back after about 24 hours. Heavy or rolling loads and wet mopping should wait for the time specified by the adhesive manufacturer, often 48 to 72 hours.
PVC is water-resistant, quieter and softer underfoot. Good laminate is harder and more scratch-resistant, but cannot withstand standing water. PVC is therefore better suited to a kitchen or bathroom, while laminate works well in a dry living room.
We try to be flexible with our scheduling. Please get in touch to discuss whether we can arrange an appointment outside office hours.
Clear away small items and loose furniture. We can move heavy wardrobes and sofas; we agree on this during the measuring visit and include it in your quote.
Yes, we fit PVC floors for both private individuals and businesses. For commercial spaces, we select a floor with the right usage class (for example class 33) and a thick wear layer.
